Is it a 'new right', though? The 10th Amendment says "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Since IVF was not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, and not withheld from the states, supposedly it's an 'existing right' that has been reserved to the people all along. Rather than creating a 'new right,' the bill blocked by Senate GOP merely wants to codify an 'existing right' that the people already have to prevent the States (or some other jurisdiction) from taking it away from the the people.

Jesus: The scammers claim that the testing is covered by Medicare, and therefore is free to the beneficiary. In reality, Medicare only covers genetic testing in limited situations, and only when ordered by the beneficiary’s physician. If a company bills Medicare for genetic testing, and Medicare denies the claim, the beneficiary could be responsible for the entire cost of the test – which often totals around $10,000. Somewhere in the (probably extremely) small print that has that disclaimer, "If Medicare denies the test..."

@Jolly said in CNN Layoffs?: @LuFins-Dad said in CNN Layoffs?: @Jolly said in CNN Layoffs?: FOX News had a net income of $1.25 billion in 2021 and has inched upwards since then. Probably due to the election, income grew 8% last quarter in 2023. So yeah, they're making money. What’s their overhead? If I read it correctly, the profit that year was about $570M. Thanks! I had an argument with a Nationals fan a few years back where he wanted the Nats to give Bryce Harper, Max Scherzer, Trey Turner, and Juan Soto to $50M per year contracts. I pointed out that would mean a total Payroll of $350M for a team that had $328M in Revenue. And they still had to pay $68M per year for the stadium plus all of the other business overhead. He replied “The Lerner’s are billionaires, they can afford it” Uhm, no, they can’t. They didn’t become billionaires by running businesses losing $100M per year… This guy was an engineer, too.

It's not exactly a surprise that The Daily Torygraph is posting this. What they really need to address is why Labour is doing so well in the opinion polls. Also, this guy needs to take a trip up North. My home-town and much of the surrounding area has been ignored by the current government, who clearly only care about "middle England", a euphemism for the Tory heartland. The Conservatives don't deserve to be re-elected. Time and time again they've demonstrated that they're not up to the task of running the country. They fucked up Brexit, and they fucked up Covid. And now, they're going to get theirs. As bad as the situation has been over the past 14 years, Labour will make it far worse. Sure, they've fucked up the last 14(!) years, but you need to re-elect them. Please, vote for my fat, useless friends.

Your IQ is excellent, but you are allowing your EQ to drag it down. No sense in asking something that most likely will not happen vs. something that might be as high as 1 in 3. Do a bit of study...You watch older people when they go into serious decline...Things tend get really bad within eighteen months of physical impairment. (Walking, etc.)

Captain Ray told me that his B-25H required TONS of maintenance, something was always breaking and parts were scarce. It cost hundreds of dollars per hour to fly.

@Jolly said in Spouses and Children Next: Are judges, in their private conversations, supposed to remain neutral in all things? In a case like this, where it was a "public" event (private just because you had a buy a ticket to get in) and they were talking with someone they had no idea who they were, I would say yes, they should watch what they were saying. How many times do we hear about (or see) someone saying something stupid and they think it is a private conversation, and then it is broadcast on the internet. End result is those people typcially lose their job.

It’s already zombie precedent at the SCOTUS level but it makes sense to end it formally and I suspect they will.

Had a customs agent in Montreal fast-track me years ago. I was in camo and carrying my rifle in a guncase (bolt in separate luggage). He was just curious as to how well I'd done hunting. Nice to have a U.S.Customs agent born and raised in rural Georgia.

Saw it years ago (with subtitles of course ). It is supposedly the most influential foreign movie of all time. The plot of The Magnificent Seven is a pretty close copy.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpvv2w2e69go Wreck hunters have found the ship on which the famous polar explorer Ernest Shackleton made his final voyage. The vessel, called "Quest", has been located on the seafloor off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. Shackleton suffered a fatal heart attack on board on 5 January 1922 while trying to reach the Antarctic. And although Quest continued in service until it sank in 1962, the earlier link with the explorer gives it great historic significance.
